Hello,
I’m Chris Goyzueta. CEO of The Making It Academy, and host of the Making it with Chris G. Podcast. I’ve been in the Music Industry since 2006, having produced and booked over 2,500 shows, and working in artist development and management for over 14 years.
Since launching the podcast is 2016, I’ve had the gift of being able to share amazing interviews with our listeners from leaders in the music industry and DIY musician space. In 2020, I’m excited to launch the Making It Academy. An Academy for Artist Development and Development of Live Show Professionals (Artist Managers, Venues, Promoters, Touring Personnel, and Show Personnel) Most people in the podcast, YouTube, or Blog space, tend to offer courses as one of the products they offer to their audience to help them learn a specific skill.
As an educator, I’ve really enjoyed taking some courses from the people that I want to learn from, but as someone that loves a live classroom, whether physically or online. However, just creating another course is just not something that spoke to the way I teach. The part of teaching I enjoy the most is being able to teach current information to my students, and the interaction of back-and-forth Q&A. I have always enjoyed making my courses interactive.
My old program director at Full Sail University, used to love that I would listen to an audiobook or podcast during my commute to school, and then call someone on the topic or dive into some additional information online, and then teach it the same day to my students. This ties back to the way I teach. All the information is always current, relevant to the real music business, and strategies that you can apply today. You should be able to watch a lecture, and be able to take action immediately after with what you’ve learned.
The Making It Academy features monthly Live Lectures, which makes all the information very being taught current, applicable today, and offers some context from my experience in the music business as a promoter, talent buyer, concert producer, and artist manager. Our goal is to develop artists to be ready for artist management and develop industry professionals to start a business or land their next job in the music industry.
Every month, there will be two live lectures with Q&A. One that’s focused on artist development and marketing, and one other that’s focused on promoting shows and venue management. These sessions are 1-2 hrs each. Students can join live, or watch the archive afterward, which will be made available in the Making It Academy page (currently hosted on Patreon).
The Making It Academy also includes a private community via a private Facebook Group. In this community, you’ll have the opportunity to meet other artists and music business students that are working through similar challenges and are at all different stages of their journey. Learn from what they’ve done, and be able to interact and collaborate on projects with a community of like minded individuals.
Each year, we will feature at least 6 special guest interviews and Q&A’s that are exclusive to the Making It Academy. Have the opportunity to interact with other experts who are music business professionals, DIY musicians, and marketers. You’ll have the ability to ask them your questions and engage with them. Some of these experts include past podcast guests, and new guests that haven’t been on the podcast before. These will also be available in the archives.
No matter when you join, you’ll have access to the archive of all past lectures and exclusive interviews along with show notes on topics covered. Just like with the podcast show notes, these notes will have time signatures, so the lectures will be easy to navigate to learn about the topics you’re most interested in.
The Academy gives you access to live lectures with your podcast host, Chris Goyzueta. To learn more about me, click here. I’ve promoted and produced over 2,500 concerts. I’ve managed and developed artists, and have helped them find managers, agents, attorneys, publicists, and many other members of their team. As someone that has promoted shows with and for companies such as Live Nation and AEG Presents, I have extensive experience in marketing strategies to promote your next concert or tour, producing concerts from clubs to arenas to festivals, and in-depth experience in content and social media strategies.
I look at the Academy like having a big picture artist manager, and a community of artists and music business students that are working through similar challenges at all different stages of their career.
I look forward to having you join our community, and starting your journey to getting one step closer to Making It. Sign-up now here, and make sure to select the $20 or $30 Making It Academy level to join.
